Default Bad C69A block

I'm going to see if I can sleave this bad bore ,A question for the rebuilders here, when I put the step in the bottom of the bore to stop the liner against, how far up from the bottom should it be,I measured to the bottom of the water jacket on the inside by the bottom of the bore ,should I go a bit below that area, it looks like its only about 1/4 thick there through to the inside of the crankcase area.
Thanks Lawrie.

Hello Lawrie. I've done some boring and sleeving lately. I followed advice I received from here on the Barn. I leave about 1/8" at the bottom, which might look a little less at the actual bore because there is a small chamfer on the bottom of the bore.
I've shown the process in some of my videos.

For instance you can see the step in this video:

There are many others too.

If you sleeve to a bore smaller than the existing bore you want it as low as possible. 2-3mm is fine. It just needs to be strong enough to resist the slam of the liner. If they go in right with a heat/freeze process they can really slam in there.

Mart.
