Default Hand Brake

Newbe Question, I am trying to put my 31 hand brake back together and i am having a problem, how do you keep the spring in place on the rod ,what holds the spring in place,Thankyou for your help Pete

the spring sits on a ledge down in the bore of the handle. The rod runs up through it, the spring is compressed and held in place by the button, which is pinned to the rod.
