Default Gas tank clamps

Hello I have a 31 s/w,Can someone please tell me were the 4 gas tank clamps go and how do they hold the tank do down . Thanks for your help Pete

I don't think the clamps hold the tank down, the perimeter bolts do that. The clamps hold the tank still and keep it from squeeking. The clamps hold the edge on each side, one in the front and one in the back. The 28/29 cars use, I think, have more clamps than the 30/31's.

les' book #1 states on 1-185 #12 install (2) "c" clamps on each side along the cowl flange.
that is from inside under the fuel tank .

#16 states '28/'29 years have (5) on each side.

this book is great.

All the 1930 cars I have seen have 3 clamps per side. 28/29 have 4 or sometimes 5.
