Fuel line
Is there any of you out there that are old enough to remember hot rods from the late 40's to early 50's
My question is what kind or what color fuel lines feed multi carb setups I'm building a 34 Ford flathead with 4- Holley 94 carbs and want to put the proper fuel lines on from that era. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

stock line should handle 4 carbs. If you change line size remember the ID holes in ALL fittings must be equal to the ID of the fuel line. If you have a fitting with 1/4" ID you are only going to get the max amount of fuel that would flow through a 1/4" line at the same fuel pressures. You would want to run the fuel pressure up at about 4 lbs. on the stock fuel line. G.M.

Re: Fuel line
Plastic line dries out and cracks and leaks.

Re: Fuel line
All depends on where you had the fuel 'log' mounted.
If mounted on the firewall, Red plastic. If mounted on the engine, plated steel or copper line. And then there were some, even with the 'log' on the engine, still used red plastic because they did not have the ability to form the steel tube.

Re: Fuel line
I remember back in the day that the Police had a motorcycle squad called "The Flying Squadron." They would patrol the streets near the drive ins where we all used to hang out. They would pull over hot rods and customs and inspect them for items such as legal bumper height and...plastic fuel lines. They were illegal because they caused a lot of engine fires when they disintegrated and leaked fuel. BTW this was in Ohio.
So, even back then plastic fuel line was a danger. |

Re: Fuel line
Pay attention to what V12Bill stated because it's true. You don't want your vehicle to go
up in flames. DO NOT USE ANY plastic fuel line for gasolene. Read about red fuel line here: https://www.google.com/search?q=red+...hrome&ie=UTF-8 |

Re: Fuel line
In 1959, my buddy put three deuces on his dad's 54 Olds using clear plastic. Caught fire on Prom nite. Had to use a taxi.

Re: Fuel line
I remember that also. I think today's fuel will "eat" it though.
