Default 58 Edsel Pacer

Have the car completed except for a couple of nickey-nackey things to install (clock, belts and radio). Painted in original colors, interior stiched in original pattern but all white vinyl. Just thought you guys might like to see it.

E400 is the 361, the 410 was an E475.

Nice car. These Pacers have very nice lines. Are readers aware that there are very few Body & Trim Parts that interchange between the long wheelbase Citation/Corsair & the short wheelbase Pacer/Ranger series. For starters, check out the front fenders on these 2 cars, a Bronze Citation & a Salmon Pacer. You will see that they are totally different. Even the Stud Patterns of the Wheels are different which means that you can't swap wheels between these 2 Series.

The E400 and E475 designations refer to the rated max torque of the engine.

I think the Citation and Corsair lines were built on a Mercury platform, while the Pacer and Ranger were built on a Ford platform. Nice car Ford blue blood.

Thanks, yes that is correct. The Ranger/Pacer windshield rubber, back window and all the weather stripping are 57 - 58 Ford. Doors are the same also.

Nice looking Edsel! I had a Citation conv. and a Corsair 4 door hardtop back in the 60's when I lived in Lowndes co., Miss. The Citation got wrecked and the Corsair I sold around '70. Always like to see a nice Edsel.

as has been stated allpacer and rangers were just fords all had 361 engines.the top models were based on mercury and all had 410.i scraped both a few years back and it was real interesting to see what they were all about.the only thing unique about them was their looks.the rest was smoke and mirrows ford tried to pass them off as all new and different.the pacer i scraped had a coluum shift.

Far as I know, first Ford product with self adjusting brakes, unique speedometer design ( which impressed the public in those days ), push button shifter in center of steering wheel, very high torque rated engines for their displacement and time.
