No, just time it like any stock Model A

Ignition timing is dictated basically by the style of front cover [pin location].

Assuming that your engine has a Model "A" timing gear cover, time the ignition as you would for the Model "A" at TDC. Before timing, pull the spark lever down 2 or 3 notches.

A Madeleines B cam in a model A doesn't need any different tune up requirements than an A cam.

The B distributor needs the 9 degrees initial advance as the auto advance mechanism only has 8.5 degrees advance I gather. http://www.fordgarage.com/pages/bdistributoradvance.htm |

Yep, the B distributor has been discussed recently. Ford didn't get it right. That advance system only gives about 20* if that. So the base timing needs to be set at 19* which is where the B cover timing pin is. [ This is crank degrees]

Re: timing for a b cam with original gear in a standard 1929 A
I have a GAZ cam in my car and I time it exactly like a regular Model A. Except that I move the lever down one notch (4 degrees). That way I am assured that if I have to hand crank the car it will not try to start backwards and possibly injure me. My running setting is 3 notches from full advance.
