Jegs and Summit have it for ~$35.99 for 5qt. That's around $7.20 a qt, not too bad.

Valvoline VR1 oil is available in southwestern Ontario, though I get mine in Port Huron MI. Also Kendall has zinc. 20W-50. I also add straight 50W for top-up in the summer to boost the viscosity, somewhat.
Cheers, Byron.

The Classic Car Motor Oil from the Haggerty article mentioned above by fiveof10 seems to be sold in 12 quart cases at $5.79/qt plus $15 shipping - so $7/qt delivered. Looks like it is available in only one viscosity 15W-40.

Dello has a fairly recent oil out that is 80 parts per million zinc, and has new tangled antiwear components .

I bought a bunch of Peak motor oil on sale at Dollar General. I bought 12 quarts of 10/30 at $1.89 each. It was API rating "SF". It said not to be used in vehicles manufactured after 1985. I think that's why it was so cheap, but I take it as a recommendation.

I buy my 10W-30 oil at Wally World and use a well known HD "modern" brand name oil, and as I said above I add a small prescribed amount of zinc and phos. Based on purchasing 5 gallon containers, the total cost with small amount of additive is about $4.30 per quart; no shipping. As seen above, based on one's preferences one can spend up to almost double that per quart.

My 59AB rebuild has about 35,000 on it and has always used this oil. The engine doesn't have a filter, leaks a few drops out the bell housing hole, and the dip-stick level doesn't noticeably drop between oil changes.

Just my personal opinion and attitude, and I respect everyone's opinions and preferences .... maybe I'm lucky and should be "knocking-on-wood" with this engine, but if I'm changing the oil every 3,000 miles or minimum of once a year if less, and everything is going along okay, I prefer not to spend more.

So after all this I thank you guys and will just keep on using Rotella T and add some Zink to it .My father always told me never to go changing the brands of oil in an engine so as I don't drive either a great amount I think it is probably the best solution and the most reasonably price wise..Thanks again

I have been using Lucas 10063 Break in Additive. It's a 16 ounce bottle and I use 4 ounces per oil change. Amsoil also offers an oil called Z-Rod in 20/50

If it’s a new Engine Schneider cams has a zinc that is formulated for engine break in that I use in all the new engine I rebuild and have had great luck.
