switch
my brake lights started to work sometimes and sometimes not. I did find a bad spot in the wire near the switch. I bought new pigtails to splice in. if it comes down to replacing the switch, would I have to bleed the the brakes.
Thanks |

Re: switch
You can bleed the brakes if you wish. You should not have to if you replace the switch quickly.

Re: switch
I swap in a new brake light switch on my 53 sedan about once every two years due to the terrible quality of new switches. I have not had to bleed my brakes when swapping a brake light switch.

Re: switch
It may not be the switches. Silicone brake fluid will destroy the type of switch that screws into the master cylinder. This is why the switches were moved to the pedal.

Re: switch
I had forgot to ask another question. When replacing the wires or switch does it matter witch wire goes to witch side of the switch?

Re: switch
Once done replacing the switch, it is always a good idea to check the master cylinder level.
