Transmission rear bearing retainer
Who was to know there was more than one transmission rear bearing retainer. I tore down my 28 trans to refresh it and cannibalized a few gears from some donor cases. I assumed all rear bearing retainers were the same. NOT!!!!!! I bolted a A7065A to my case and installed it in the car. When I put the rearend back in along with the early 28 split cross over shaft guess what?????? No amount of rotating would mate uo to the u-joint housing cap or case. I had to go back to the shop and find the original A7065C rear bearing retainer. What a pain in the #%@ !!!!!!!!! Oh well. All fixed. Just wanted to post in case someone else was going to do their tranny. DON'T MIX UP PARTS!!!!!

Re: Transmission rear bearing retainer
Henry changed the bolt pattern on the transmission rear bearing retainer on purpose to confuse and confound the next hundred years of Model A enthusiasts.

Re: Transmission rear bearing retainer
He did a good job. I had to go digging through my spares to find a correct one. Another learning experience. Lol!
