Spark plugs with interference suppression?
Hi Guys
I have some problems using electronic devices in my 30s Tudor. The electronic flasher has blown. Probably due to induced surge pulses from the vehicle electrical system. But since I want to use additional electronics in the future, I'm now looking for the problem! One idea was the lack of interference suppression for the ignition system. Therefore, I ask myself whether there is a spark plug for the original fourbanger with intrigued interference resistance. So spark plugs with 7 / 8x18 thread. Is there anything known? Greetings from Berlin Andy |

Re: Spark plugs with interference suppression?
Andy-
The original spark plugs will generate noise that you will hear on a radio. Noise in the electrical system (that would damage electronics) is coming from the charging system (alternator, generator). Spark plugs with noise suppression will not help with that.

Re: Spark plugs with interference suppression?
The generator is an electronically controlled one. I do not trust such disturbances.
What else can be the cause? I just want to exclude all possibilities. Greetings Andy |

Andy,
die LiMa muß mit einem Kondensator abgeblockt werden. Z-Kerzen müssen mit "R" codiert sein.

Hallo Werner, heut mal in Deutsch, das freut mich.
Der Kondensator... hast du da ne nähere Info zu? Nen Elko, oder was anderes? Wo anklemmen? Direkt zwischen Ladeausgang und Fahrzeugmasse? Danke schon mal im voraus. |

Re: Spark plugs with interference suppression?
Put a .01 COAXIAL cap in SERIES with the OUTPUT terminal of the generator. Be sure the cap is rated for at least the full output of the generator.
(Note this is NOT the field terminal) Note this type of cap goes in SERIES, not to ground. The case of this type of cap is the ground. Be sure the case of the cap is grounded. They can be had at electronic parts stores. To use resistor plugs, you may have to use 14mm adaptors in the plug holes. At one time in the past, someone made plug resistors that snapped on the spark plug and the wire then plugged in the resistor unit. |

My friend put an electronic backup camera on her car and the noise in the power feed was very bad. She investigated all wiring and found a bad connection. When that was corrected, the signal improved quite a bit and the image was better.

Re: Spark plugs with interference suppression?
I use resistance spark plug wires on my Model A. Recommended by Pertronix the maker of my electronic ignition.
