Default Renner's Corner

I would like all fordbarners to know about the kind of service I received from Dave at Renner's Corner. To order parts these days over the phone usually requires a credit card of some kind. Not this time , Dave shipped the parts from Michigan to western Canada, asking for payment when parts arrived.Folks, we are going back a lot of years before a business would ever think of sending parts before payment. Trust is something that has to be earned, and Dave trusted me to do my part, and I thank him for that.

There are still a select few individual sellers who operate that way, definitely not many left like that..

I had the same experience when buying parts from Rock Hill Will (mostly fasteners) http://www.mantiquesresto.com/ He would send me the parts and anything I didn't want I could send back (never happened). I would send him a check for the parts I wanted to keep.

I loved this system as I never had to wait for checks to reach him and clear before shipment of parts. And even tough it took me twelve years to restore my special coupe, somehow I always needed the parts yesterday!

With all the scams going on, it is not a good business practice, to do nowdays.
He'll, probably, start getting orders from Nigeria, soon.

I don't even want to count up the times I have asked for "rush" or "overnight" only to have the parts sit on the workbench for a week (or more) until they got used.

I had the same exceptional service from Dave about 2 years ago, I returned a carb for him to correct an issue and he would not take any $ for his return postage, I sent him a check for the return postage anyway and he never cashed it. Very honest, very professional.

I've been meaning to get a set of flow-tested jets from him for a while. Thanks for sharing your experience. It prompted me to go ahead and place my order.

Well, not to pat myself on the back but I've been shipping my tool display boxes all over this fine country before I see payment. I'm 77 and of an era where a mans word meant something. So far I've found that you Model A folks are of that era and I appreciate it.

I found Renner's after extensive Google searching. They were able to suppy me with a repair kit for my Allstate carburetor (see other threads).

Renner's is sufficiently old-fashioned not to handle PayPal or Visa over the phone! I live in the UK and we had to muddle through by using Western Union (a first time experience for me!).

Throughout, Renner's were very patient and helpful.

EDIT - did this post just make me a Senior Member !!!!

ericr-he states he does not use paypal-paypal BTW charges 4% for an overseas transaction.
while paypal is buyer friendly, it is a terrible service for a seller if a buyer is unreasonable.....

while it is great to hear their are a select few shipping parts wo payment- it is not an advisable way of doing business in this day and age. one bad cookie..... well you know what I mean....

I just purchased over $500.00 in parts from Arizona Model A (Sammy G). He first located the parts--confirmed by phone that they were what I wanted---then shipped them to Utah without asking for any "up front" payment.

He is one of the "BEST" at helping with our Model A Parts.
