What’s this hole?
Sorry for not using my own picture - I grabbed this one off eBay for illustration purposes.
I’m still new to this and removed my distributor for the first time last night. I discovered there’s a hole between the distributor and the closest head nut that I actually don’t know the purpose of and it’s kind of driving me nuts while I’m at work that I don’t know. Can someone enlighten me before I can get home and pour through my books and figure it out? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: What’s this hole?
psimet - on the bottom of the distributor body you should find a small pin sticking out, parallel with the distributor drive shaft. That pin fits into the hole in the head, it's to keep the distributor from rotating when in place. When you reinstall the distributor you need to make sure that this pin goes into the hole, should be a pretty snug fit to keep the distributor timing intact.

Re: What’s this hole?
That appears to be a very large hole for the distributor pin. It looks like someone enlarged the hole for some reason.
My opinion, Chris W. |

Re: What’s this hole?
Yes indeed - mine is a small hole (sounds weird to type) and yup I found the pin, etc.
Thanks again everyone. Was one of those things that was running in the back of my head while I was at work and didn’t have everything in front of me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
