Cluster gear 022A-7113A vs 21C-7113
Does anyone by chance have a pic of the difference between these two gears. The 21C- 7113 apperently has a1/4 band between the "Driver and Intermediate gear" I think that's what I have but still not sure if that's what I've. It's in a 41 3 on the column transmission

The band is very pronounced it is part of the gear metal it has no other purpose except identification. Post a photo of your gear if still unsure.

Re: Cluster gear 022A-7113A vs 21C-7113
The 21C cluster was a short lived experiment by Ford to try out a different gear as far as metallurgy and heat treating processes. I have the factory print somewhere. I don’t know if the experiment failed to produce the results they wanted, or perhaps some of the details made it into general production of the subsequent cluster gears. In any case, the part number was not carried forward after the war, except where it showed up in the gear charts for application purposes.

Re: Cluster gear 022A-7113A vs 21C-7113
I figure that for 1942, they decided to make a new cluster for Commercial models with the new open drive line. It likely didn't take long to figure that they already had that with the set up made for the V8-60 that was being discontinued. A person also has to put it into a time perspective. Ford was already gearing up for full wartime production in 1942. They may have worried that the 022A part may not hold up well for heavier Commercial applications.
A person can use the resize controls built into the MS Paint program. A person just has to select the "keep aspect ratio" control during that process so the photo doesn't get shrunk down to nothing. That way is just reduces the pixel count but not the size. Last edited by rotorwrench; 05-09-2021 at 09:24 AM. |
