Default 36 ford grill side moulding HELP!

Hey guys, Im so close to being finished with this 36 ford roadster. Im getting hung up on the grill side mouldings though. Ordered new clips and they are super far off from working. If i compress them, they are still larger than the diameter of the holes in the grill they are supposed to go into. It also takes alot to compress them. Does anyone have any oem clips for these mouldings they want to get rid of? or anyone know another type of clip than might work? theres not enough room to get behind the grill for a nut and stud type clip.

Have you tried AU-VE-CO? https://www.auveco.com/

Here is their online catalog.

I just ordered a repro set of clips for my '36, but haven't received them yet. As soon as I get them, I'll let you know how they compare with the originals.

yeah the reproductions look like that, but the wire diameter is too thick to go in the grill holes, plus its takes alot of force to compress them! it would probably dent the grill trying to use them

I received my clips today from Midwest Early Ford. I measure wire diameter, length & width and they were identical to the originals. They installed into the molding and into the sheet metal with no problems.
