'48 F1 and F6 grill similar?
I have a '48 F1 in need of grill parts and located a '48 F6 parts truck. Are the grill bars, trim, etc. the same?

1948-1950 Ford F6 Grille. The Grill Bars on the F6 are longer than the smaller models. Therefore, they will not fit your F1 |

1948-1950 Ford F5 Grille. Notice that the Grille Bars are shorter than on the F6 Trucks. |

Joining Panel between Fenders is the same on all model Ford Trucks. Hope that this information helps. |

Thanks for the replies, I may have to explore the reproduction grill parts. Any suggestions? I have an old Dennis Carpenter that lists the parts.

Re: '48 F1 and F6 grill similar?
Respectfully, the hood, upper valence, lower valence, and grille are all equally interchangeable for U.S. F-1 through F-6 for model years 1948 through 1950. The actual fenders, upper and lower pieces, are either F-1 only with small tire opening or F-2 through F-6 with the large tire opening. Inner fenders will also interchange F-1 through F-3, with F-4 through F-6 being substantially the same yet missing cutouts for the shocks. Note that grille color changed from cream to argent but the physical stampjjng is the same for all referenced model years.
The heavy trucks, F-7 and F-8 get the unique wide front end pieces. The camera angles on some of the posted front ends are not indicitative of the reality found in either actual vehicles or the Ford manuals! Last edited by JHFORD51; 12-05-2022 at 08:38 PM. Reason: Added info |

Re: '48 F1 and F6 grill similar?
Thanks a bunch for the informative reply. Closer inspection of my pictures confirmed you are correct, as is the fat fendered truck parts interchange table that FortyNiner posted a link to. Now I just need to let it warm up to melt some snow and drive to my neighbor's to rescue the grill before it is recycled to China.
