The detail that was shown for the time was most impressive. I did not even know that the amount of oil that's being pumped in a 3 minute period would fill a bath tub full. I was not aware that there was that much pressure . Everyone should watch this film. Very neat

That was an interesting film.
Showing the locomotive reminded me of watching the crew greasing the bearings on the local steam locomotive, the 261. The large heavy grease gun is connected to a steam line and uses the boiler pressure to pump the grease to the bearings. The grease comes on solid sticks and is discarded when it's down to a couple inches in length. It's certainly the thickest grease I've ever heard of.

When you have the oil pan off, on a 1936 Chev, the oil tubing needs to be connected to a garden hose to make sure it will squirt oil at the base of all the conrods (from what I can remember).

Always wondered what would happen if this tubing was a bit off.

Chevrolet seemed to be big on education in the 30's.

They used a target gage for checking for proper aim of the nozzle's. while the pan was off water squirted through the oil pipe was used to verify alignment.

Did you notice on the slow motion segment that the oil stream was interrupted by the dipper and had not reformed before the next revolution of the crankshaft? And at only 3200 RPM?? No wonder these Chevy engines couldn't take high RPM and were known as "Babbitt beaters"! Plus the weight of cast iron pistons!
