Default Brake Question...Again 1957 Thunderbird

Seems I have an out of round brake drum. Am I mistaken in thinking the front drums and hubs are one piece? I see offerings from vendors for front drums less the hubs but I believe my hubs/drums are one piece. Maybe the hubs are riveted to the drums? Referenced my shop manual but have not found anything yet. Help!

OEM were drum/hub assy.

It seems current service replacement is drum only and/or hub only. The drum is pressed onto the hub.

EDIT - Added text is in heavy text.

You are not getting NEW Hubs -- and you do not need Hubs, period....(99 % of the time)...
The hubs and drums are pressed apart, and then the Hub is then pressed to the NEW brake drums.... Certainly best to have an old school machine shop do it correctly....
If you want NEW Brake Drums and ++ N.O.S. ++ Asbestos ++ Brake Shoes ++
Always best to simply call me -- Craig -- 516 - 485 - 1935.... New York....

Most of the old Fords had rear hub & drum assemblies back in the Lockheed brake era. They were held together by the lug studs which were swaged to hold them tightly. I'm not well versed on the baby birds but it would be nice to know if they are similar in that respect. It takes a tool to cut the swage and a tool to swage the new studs on the old cars but later ones may just be a tight press fit. It was common on Fords of the late 40s & early 50s to have three bolts holding the hub & drum together on front wheel brake drum applications. The drums were centered by the inner diameter fit to the hub snout.

If you have actual NOS, it is a drum/hub assy (1102) correct? If just drum, where did you source them?

I am going to see if the local "old school" shop can turn the drum with the hub attached. If not, I'll get a replacement drum and press my old one apart. Thanks for all the advice! This forum is great!

Craig is the real deal, he has a lot of what others do not and he is great to deal with. It is worth giving him a call.

Local shop was successful in machining the drum with the hub in place. The i.d. measured right at 11" so it had never been turned before. I swept the drum braking area with a dial indicator before I took it to the machine shop and found it to have about .040" runout. It was definitely warped from overheating. It is all installed now and I'll test out the brakes this coming weekend.

What I was trying to find is if he is selling just the drum w/o hub, where did he source the drum only as FORD serviced the front as drum and hub assy only unless he knows something I don't which is actually fairly common ...
