Default Red light

Had flasher unit go bad and replaced it with different new ones but the red light stays on all of the time. Could a bad ground somewhere cause this problem or is it in the signal-stat 900. How long would it take to run the battery down with the red light on?

I just had the same problem and in my case the flasher unit had gone bad in only 3 months use. Waiting on a replacement now. Nobody near me stocks 6V flashers.

Can I join this club, putting the car back together after a layup for spraying, flashers not working, not flashing, they all light up, no light on the signal stat though, not sure how to check the relay so ordered a new one anyway................

I wired my directionals to the ignition switch so that they are only on when the key is turned on. That way no drain on the battery when not running the motor.

Bill I thank your right, might not be that long with my old battery. I have already put 3 flashers in, even a new EF33W and still have the red light. I may have to do like Model A Mike.

How is the flash rate with the EF33W ?

I'm wondering if the problem is a poor ground [ usually where it mounts to the column] or that the units are usually chock full of grease and cleaning that out usually fixes the internal light problems.

Digger,
Isn't it FUNNY, sometimes we fool around with an OLD battery for WEEKS, hoping it will, by some MIRACLE, come back to LIFE! We think of 7 excuses, NOT to tackle the stuck floor board screws & the corroded hold down studs, etc
At 81 1/2 & retired, I'm plain old LAZY

Hey Bill, I just ordered a new optima battery. Just trying to get all the good out of my old one. Guess I'll find out what kind of mess the floor board screws are in. I'm willing to bet the new battery don't fix my problem.

Assuming your car is 6v pos ground. Not all 6v flashers are compatible with positive ground.

My car had a Wagner 535 flasher and I replaced it with a 535 from turnalarm.com so I could get a beep when signals were on. When I put that in the red light stayed on when not flashing (which it hadn't before). He said to 1. Remove connection to P terminal in the flasher 2. Remove the wire to the P terminal on the socket. 3. Remove the light I removed the light because I didn't need it since it now beeps. I couldn't see the red light before anyway, that's why I wanted an audible flasher. Really like it.
