Maybe a note describing your needs to ted would get you there.

Use the Model A Times articles, that's how I did it. There are two:

Read through this, I found it to be helpful. We have done several cars and like them.

Kwisor,
I put the Ted's kit on my Tudor and felt a little trepidation as well. Read through the articles mentioned above. They fill in a lot of information that is not in the "instructions". Go through it one step at a time, and it will all make sense; even the video will start to make sense. BTW, it is easier to start with the rear brakes, then take on the front.
The kit makes your brakes much better, IF they are in good condition to start with. This kit does not fix a poorly adjusted and/or worn out system. Correct adjustment is crucial to getting the most out of your brakes with or without the Ted's kit.
Let us all know how it goes.

Snyder's has the instructions in their on line catalog https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/R...structions.pdf but probably the best is in Model A Times linked to above in post #3.

If you are not familiar with Model A brakes I would suggest you find someone that can help. To work properly they will need to be installed and adjusted correctly. Do you belong to a club?where someone can help.

I bought the Deluxe FHT kit quite a number of years ago. Still trying to get up the courage to tackle the job.

That kiwi did a good job designing the kit, he just isn't a tech writer. Pay attention to the bottom roller pins, they must be reversed (heads out) I filed the ends of my pins so they cant touch the backing plate, a big cause of issue on install. Another spot is the adjuster pins, they have to slide smoothly for the system to work, doing a little fitting and burr removal works. While you are there, lube the cam, wedge and adjuster pins.

Kevin:
The Santa Anita Model A Club made an EXCELLENT dvd on the Flathead Ted Brake kit/install. Order it from Snyders. Part # A-18801-F. Watch it several times to get familiar with the parts/names.

As long as we are adding suggestions for assembling the kit:
When I installed the front kit, I did not get enough clearance between the plate where the rollers seat and the inner side of the brake shoe. This plate has two semi-circular cutouts where the rollers seat when not actuated. Anyway, the lower points of this cutout got wedged against the inner side of the brake shoe and drove me crazy trying to adjust the brakes. This is mentioned in one of the articles or instruction sheets so it is not hidden.
Again, anyone who is mechanic enough to replace the brakes on the car, can install this kit if you take your time.

BTW, I take lots of pictures with my phone as I disassemble things like the brakes so I can check myself during reassembly. I also spent quite a while online looking at pictures of Model A brakes to get familiar with the parts and how they work.

The four black flat nuts go on the adjustment screws on the backing plate. They hold the adjustment. Unlike the original adjusting wedge, the FHT floating wedge doesn't have the notches to hold the adjustment so you need the lock nuts.

Please study the Model A Times instructions closely, post #3.

thank you Y-Blockhead
i have one more question. then i believe i have the understanding on how to install the kit.
on the square pins the instruction say on the rt side the gold pin goes on the bottom the silver on the top. what does that mean? or is it the gold pin goes on the shoe facing the rear of the car and the silver on the shoe facing the front of the car?
thank everyone for the input i would have not been able to install this correctly with out you help.
thank you
Kevin

On the rear, the shoes are Top & Bottom. Not Front & Rear.

Kevin, please get intimate with the stock braking system and the condition of your brakes before you start adding the FHT kit. Everything must be in top shape and you need to understand the workings and adjustments or your brakes will not work properly.

When properly installed and adjusted the FHT brakes work fantastic, IMO.
