Default What trans do I have

Yesterday a friend dropped off a Ford std 3 speed OD trans and said Merry Christmas!!
That was very nice, but what is it?
Casting # on trans case—C1A-7006A2
Casting # on OD tail shaft—R10F-1. W2
Input shaft is 1”. 10 spline.
Bell housing appears to have bolt pattern of later 50’s engine.
I would post pics on here, but don’t know how.
I could send to an email address

Is the cover on the side where the shift levers are rectangular or D shaped? If rectangular it's a Borg-Warner T-86 and has the R-10 OD. This is a light to medium duty trans used behind 6 cylinders and V8s up to the 272 Y-block. If the cover is D shaped you have a T-85 with R-11 OD. It was used into the '70s behind various big blocks and is about as bulletproof as they come.

I think that the C1A-7006A2 would be for 1961 full size Ford.

Others with more more knowledge than me on Numbers will chime in.

There was also the 259 series much like the units used from 1949 up through the end of the flathead era. The T-86 is a top loader and the 259 is a side loader with a rectangular cover but both had the BW R10 overdrive adapted to them. The T85-R11 is the heavy duty unit and it does have the D-shaped side cover. It would have R11 on the overdrive housing. When the FE blocks started to become the norm for the larger cars like the Galaxie and Monterey cars, they went to the heavy duty T85 R11 due to the torque output. Ford used it up into the early 70s.
