1936 flathead water pumps??????
Did the 1936 water pumps have the temp sender socket on both pumps? Saw a for sale set last week, and I always thought there was a right and left, with temp sender being on left/drivers side. Did the guy just have 2 left side pumps for sale????? Thanks

Only on the left one as far as I know. The right one would be similar to 32 to 34 or same.

Re: 1936 flathead water pumps??????
In 1935 and 36 production water pumps had a distinct left hand pump(with temp sender port) and right hand pump(w/o temp sender port). Service replacement pumps however were universal and could be used on either side. The temp sender port would be plugged when used on the right side.

Re: 1936 flathead water pumps??????
The right hand pump with a access port was very handy to hook up a hot water heater, in lieu of into the upper hose on the '36 and earlier vehicles.
I know that Ford did not offer a hot water heater in their cars until 1938-39, however, many people found the manifold heaters and/or gas heaters, (Southwind) to be somewhat useless.. My '36 cpe had a 38-39 heater in it when I bought the car in 1952. There is no evidence on the firewall that the car ever had anything but a Ford hot water heater in the car.

The SW heater warms up quicker than the engine does for sure. The later Corvair heater will work in the arctic but a person has to watch for carbon monoxide. I've know folks that used both way up north.

That's what I loved with my SW (high school years), instant heat and lots of it!

I have a Southwind Jr. Model in my Avatar. It will make you drive with the windows down for cooling.
