'36 Female Dovetail Replacement
Gentlemen,
I'm restoring a '36 3w coupe and would like to replace the worn female dovetails pads that are in the 'B' pillar. They appear to be spot welded in and cutting the spot weld is no big deal, but I don't see any way to remove the assembly, other that cutting the channel they're in, but I really don't want to do that, as the pillar is in great shape. I did a search on Google, HAMB and, of course on Ford Barn, but didn't come up with anything. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'd appreciate knowing the best way of inserting new dovetails. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. -Bob |

Re: '36 Female Dovetail Replacement
The dovetail wedgies and springs are easy to remove and replace in an original housing without removing the housing.
The housing in the door post is not reproduced... If replacement is needed you should have one on hand. There are reproductions of the 1937-38 PLASTIC wedgie style housing made, however the metal wedgies do not interchange with the plastic ones. (My understanding is metal wedgies were also used 1937-38). |
