Default Panel light switch for 36 coupe

Does anyone know if the vendors make a repo of the dash panel light switch ?
Or where could I get an original one ??
The tabs that hold the panel light switch into the dash are broken off.
Any suggestions ?

They are not remade. The 35 works differently than the 36 or the 37 (same except the knob). May try a couple small dabs of RTV to secure the switch to the dash. Used originals often do not work but sometimes inserting a piece of plastic between the two electrical terminals will restore operation.

They are not reproduced and hard to find. They do turn up on EBAY occasionally .Might help to post an ad on this site or the V8 club site.

If yours only has the tabs broken off you might try to find a way to repair it.

John
Really? Very pricey for a welder. What do you use it for?

Laser welders are used in the dental industry, jewelry industry, aero-space, etc. they will weld almost anything on a small scale. Superb on stainless steel.

I have a similar problem in a 37 Ford Woody Wagon... the instrument light switch/dimmer on the dash sometimes gets very hot and starts to smoke... NOT GOOD! Haven't been able to find a replacement switch anywhere. I would really appreciate some suggestions - either how to repair this one, where to find a replacement switch, or an alternative solution.
Photo attached.
THANKS! Bill

kuipers: Looks like an original dash light switch which is not a dimmer. Most likely gets hot due to poor electrical contacts inside the switch. Try the suggestion I made above.

Why would anybody want to turn their dash lights off. If your switch doesn't work just bypass it.Mine worked when i installed it 20 years ago but i haven't had a reason to try it Lately so it might not work now

The original dash light switch on the '36 Ford is not a dimmer, it is off/on only.
If you have ever driven a 'thirty model" Ford on the open highway at night, you will appreciate the off/on feature of the dash lights, the glare from the dash lights can be very annoying.
