Chris - looks like a really good idea to me! I just spent several hours under my A installing seat belts...would have been nice to have been able to walk around under there.

So, is that a 3 season lift? I'd guess the ice and snow in God's country would keep even the hardiest A'er inside and not under the chassis?

I hear that Waynesville's caterpillars are predicting a cold winter. Can't wait to get back up the mountain!

I don't have room for a lift in my barn or garage. I don't know why but I never thought about installing a lift outside. Good Idea. Looks like a project coming up. I could always build a carport over the top of it.

Buy a Manifold Cooker and raise your lift all the way up and you can have a Model A cook out from your balcony.

Hey Chris........the lift looks great. Glad you are getting all of those "new home" projects wraped up. The 4-dr looks great. Richard

The nice thing about the 4-post lifts is that you can put a set of casters under the corners and move it around.

When I bought my lift, thought really hard about 2 or 4-post. Since my shop is small, I selected the 2-post Direct Lift. I'd like to have a 4-post for outside, maybe someday.

Regardless of 2 or 4-post lifts, sure are nice for working under the car. Everything is accessible and as I have gotten older, hate the cold concrete.

Nice lift Chris and your Model A too.

What a great idea to have it outdoors! A carport cover and removable canvas walls would work for me...... Gar Williams

I agree and if it's on the south side and you hang clear plastic for the side facing the sun it can get a lot warmer in the wintertime.

I have a BendPak 4 post, 9000 LB lift inside my tall garage. Love it. The best tool I've ever had.

it's a Backyard Buddy 7000# lift. based on their marketing propaganda video, I would not care to trust my life to any of the cheaper lifts.

3 seasons? we shall see how ugly the weather gets, this is my first winter up here. it is on the south side of the house, that may help a bit.

Chris, that foundation looks like a lot less trouble than the one down in Jax. It could use some mondo grass around it though. And a six-pak of Schells....

Chris, if you don't mind me asking, how much was the lift and how much to ship? Also, did you assemble it yourself?

I got it used (5 years old) from a friend who made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

believe the street price is about $3k, but check with Backyard Buddy to confirm. don't know if that includes shipping, the lifts are built in Cleveland OH.

their sales propaganda says 2 men can assemble it. without special equipment, I doubt it.
when I moved from FL to NC it took FOUR men (myself & 3 professional movers) to load the heaviest ramp into the U-haul.
when Greg & I disassembled it at his house, we used his engine hoist to load the long ramps onto a trailer.
I assembled it in my FL back yard alone, using Greg's engine hoist, two large floor jacks, lots of plywood and 6x6 cribbing.
subsequently assembled it in NC using the floor jacks to get the long ramps in my pickup truck and then back off on the slab.
the long ramps are the only part a strong person cannot lift alone......
