Default 51 Ford Convertible quarter window regulator question

A friend of mine is helping a friend of his on a 51 Ford Convertible. I've not seen it but my friend says its a pretty nice car..........except.... there are no window regulators for the rear quarter windows and evidently (?) they are a one year only device that was extremely troublesome. I guess the windows are held up by some sort of clips currently.

Would anyone have a picture of what the correct regulator looks like or......probably more importantly, is there a regulator that can be swapped in?

Thanks!!

Call Chris at Shoebox Central (405-259-9222). He knows these 49-53 Fords inside and out and can tell you what you need to know.

Try Regulator Roy 609-828-8537. He is a regular advertiser in the V8 Times and advertises regulators for 1932/53.

Hope this helps,
Tom

They are rare and expensive. Whatever you get in any condition 49-51 go for it. I think the differences may be in the crank handle attachment. You could maybe change one out from another more comon one. The gears are round and can be turned 180 degrees if stripped. It requires a bit of skill but easily doable. I have cut up similar gears for the fronts and welded them in to replace worn teeth.

Thanks for the product specific info, I am sure it will help my friend!! I was hoping that someone would say that a 78 Monte Carlo (or some other common regulator) electric/manual window regulator is almost the same Something that wouldn't be too?? hard to find in the salvage yard
