Default 40/41 pickup Hood and Grille

I have a '41 V8 hood and upper grille support, and what I believe to be a '41 4 or 6 cylinder grille. It just doesn't line up correctly. Will I need a V8 grille for proper alignment and hood fitment? I'm just looking at the Howard Towne book "Two Great Trucks," and it describes some differences.

The actual grille is the same in the 40-41 pickup. It's the upper grille support(where the hood latch catches)and the upper hood latch itself that are specific to the late '41 pickup(introduction of the 6 cylinder). The later hood also has a notch(near the front) on each side to clear the 6 cylinder radiator. You cannot mix the parts from the '40 to the later '41. Howard Towne's book is very accurate when it comes to pointing out the differences. The later '41 hood handle is also specific to the latch mechanism and is a very hard to find item.
