Default MARVEL SCHEBLER Carburetor

Hello,
Do someone know this MARVEL SCHEBLER carburetor on my 40 Ford Deluxe? Have anybody experience with this carburetor? This is a new old stock carburetor.

Marvin-Schebler made replacement carburetors for the Model A and I believe this is what Sears Roebuck and a few other outlets sold. They have proven popular as replacements for the stock Zenith carbs - better performance and gas mileage.

This is my carb.

The inlet diameter is the same as Ford carburetor.

I would love a pair of those on my Navarro Universal Dual. They would sure get the local flathead "experts" talking.

Here’s 2 NOS I have actually have a third somewhere and maybe in its original box will look tomorrow. The neck for air cleaner is smaller than Stromberg. It’s only 2.312. The two original Edmunds oil bath air cleaners on them are the correct size for these carbs. I have two originals for Stromberg carbs somewhere also.
Oh they are sitting on a double throw down rare pre-war Edmunds water heated risers for a V8/60.

There was all sorts of aftermarket options for fords since demand was there...seller adapted and sold what they had.
I have a few nos marvels in their boxes to.
They usually had a combined 3/4 bolt multipattern base so could be installed in many different vehicles.

Do they fit onto 1932 to 1933 Ford V8 single throat manifolds.

Not the universal base for the 2 barrel...but think they had singles to.

I have Fish M7 carburetors.

Your carb is a direct replacement for the Holley 94. The others appear to be more of a universal replacement. They made a few different models, including updraft carbs.

Marvel schebler isnīt an exotic carburetor...they where common in aircrafts and staionary/industrial.
And they took something they had in their OEM line and then adapted it to fit as aftermarket for anything in demand.

I have now tested the carburetor extensively. The performance is better than with my two Ford 91-99 carburetors I own. In the lower speed range, my Ford Deluxe now accelerates better than before. And in the upper speed range, the engine now has a real boost. The acceleration to top speed has gotten much better. I'm excited. I can't say much about consumption yet. I haven't had to fill up yet.

Now I have made an consumption test over 300 kilometers (186 miles) with nearly constant 62mph (100km/h) on a German autobahn.
The motor took 15 liters per 100km.
This is really good.

That's about 15.7 US mpg.
or 18.8 UK mpg.

That's ok, isn't it, at constant 100km/h.

What vehicle is it? What gears and tyre size?

A lot of the helicopters and other general aviation aircraft have Marvel Schebler carbs. They supplied a lot of forklift and tractor manufacturers as well. Manufacturing replacement carbs for those where patent rights had run their coarse was not uncommon. They made a lot of carburetors. Marvel Schebler Aircraft Carburetors, LLC is still in production under the Tempest Banner. Aircraft engines are about the only large engines still able to use a carburetor now days.

Just for comparison, I did a road trip in my '51 Ford a couple of years ago. It was about 160 miles round trip, with almost all of it freeway. Since this seemed a good time to check the mileage on my new engine, I filled up when I left and when I got back. Using the odometer reading and the gallonage from the last fillup. I came up with a figure of 19 mpg.

THis car has an otherwise stock 255 Merc with modified (optimized qurench) Edmunds heads, a Mallory dual point, and a 2G carb on an optimized Merc manifold. The car also has 3.55 rear gears, 2.25R15 rear tires, and no overdrive.

I believe the odometer in the car may be a little optimistic given the size of the rear tires and original speedometer gear, but it's probably pretty close.

I have a Schebler all brass carburetor for a 1926-27JD D tractor (yes JD made more than corn head grease). I think in 1928 Marvel was added to the name.
