Default I didnt think it would work.

I didn't think my 12 volt timing gun would work on my 6 volt car, but it did, so the car has perfect timing and is running very well.

You hooked the 12 volt gun to your 6 volt battery and it worked?
Interesting. I always grab a 12 volt battery from my garden tractor for this purpose.
Less work if I can hook it to the 6 volt battery.

Yes, it worked on the FS Distributor for adjustment, I took off the stock distributor.

What worked for me was to use a 12 volt battery charger, with the positive lead connected to ground on the car, and the negative lead of the charger connected to the negative lead of the strobe lite. The positive lead of the strobe grounded to the car. Not sure why it worked , but it did, and it would not work purely as a 6 volt power source

Voltage is a akin to pressure difference from two different points, Amperes is akin the the amount of flow of electricity. so yes it would work but with less pressure if you will.
