Default Ford's "5-z-xxxx" Special Tools...

Contained in the Parts Price Lists, Ford Service Bulletins, and Ford Service Letters are some of Ford's tools that were used and advertised,

For instance...5-z-2031 is a Star wrench for gas gauge.

Is anyone trying to collect all of these as some are with KR Wilson tools?

Pluck

Yes, I am always looking for them. Most have a place in the KRW cabinets and they were required tools for Ford Service Dept's. So far I only have afew. Rod

Are you looking for some Pluck, or are you writing them up? I have several varieties if you need pictures.

I have never seen a good listing for Z tools. Unfortunate as they were used on Model T's as well as Lincolns. The first digit 3Z or 5Z had some purposeful designation. 24Z usually pertained to gages for making adjustments or checking a dimension. I would wonder if the Benson research center could help with this. Some Z tool numbers changed to other Z tool numbers, but were same tool.

There's a fairly common ratcheting box wrench about 3/4". More often than not the ratcheting part is gone and somebody's trying to sell it as a plain box wrench.

That would be for the Model T bands. Don't fit the Model A. I think I have atleast 3 of those and several 3Z and 5Z for the T. The 5Z numbers for the A start around 1800. All od the T 5Z tools are 3 digit. Rod

Steve,
Being the KRW junkie I am I also have collected the more unique Z tools for the "A" specifically. I think the original '31 parts price list has a number of them in the back page.. is that what you're referring to. I really haven't tried to find the oil pump wrench.. and a few others like them... but have the other unique ones, cam, crank, pinion.. and a few others.
I think you were in St. Louis when I gave the tool seminar.. did you attend?
Post what you're specifically looking for and we will all try and help.
