Default Shoe Box Oil Filter Gasket

I have two of the by-pass units I'm going to be using. One is held to engine via the head bolts ('49?), the other uses three 3/8-16 bolts that bolt to later heads with tapped holes.
While cleaning them up I noticed that the bolts, that hold the top on, have two different type gaskets. One has a mushed up fiber or plastic gasket, (orange), the other has a thin sheet metal gasket. My past experience has seen a copper gasket used on fasteners of this type. What is right or what has anyone used that works? Thanks,
Howard

All of the ones that I have use a hard fiber(paper) gasket on the center cover bolt. It really doesn't make much difference what material it is made of so long as it doesn't crush and it seals.

Since I first posted this thread I've gotten a '49-'53 Ford parts catalog. The PN for the gasket is 01A6749. I found a few sources on line but decided to call the local New Holland dealer since they have a past connection with the former Ford brand tractors. They still list the PN and were able to order a couple for me. Some of the larger or older dealers may stock them. Just to follow-up.
