Default Technical help - Miller Tool & Mfg Co Brake Gauge

I have a Miller Tool & Mfg Co Brake gauge and am looking for some one who has a copy of the original literature for using the gauge. It has 5 spindle adapters numbered 30, 31, 32, 44, and 47. I have figured out that the #44 adapter fits a model a ford spindle but want to know what the other spindle adapters fit. This brake gauge is shown in the early 50's Motors Repair manual in the section under brakes and is used on the lockheed brakes type 1, 2 and 3. Any one with a set of instruction and willing to shar will bw appreciated

If there is a patent number on the tool, go to google patents and search the patent number. The patent may have information as to how it operates

The one I have is an AMMCO model 1750 but it is made for Lockheed type brakes only with the exception of an adapter for the 55 & 56 Chevy. It will work as a drum micrometer for about any drum up to 12 inches but is limited as a brake shoe gauge.

Miller Special Tools were usually MoPar oriented... Chrysler Corp used Lockheed fixed-anchor brakes from around 1930 thru 1956; MoPar guys would go nuts for a Miller brake gauge set...

If you visit www.p15-d24.com, the site for 1946-48 Dodge & Plymouth ( as well as other flathead MoPar ), you'll probably find someone there with the info you're looking for.

If any of my MoPar shop manuals have detail instructions for using, I would be happy to scan and e-mail them to you...

(I gave-up on looking for the Miller set for my '41 DeSoto, and "settled for" an Ammco 1750 about five years ago...)

Good luck !

The following could be the patent for your Miller brake gauge

use of the device, and does not mention any specific vehicle make
that it will work with.
They have likely included the adapters to allow it to fit or be used
on most of the common vehicle makes of the period.
