Default Oil Leak Timing cover bolt

My side Timing gear cover bolt always leaks, when I coated the bolt with Permatex High Tack it stopped leaking, but now it just started again.

Could be a hairline crack in the housing.

Mine leaked out of the same upper bolt.

I applied Permatex Ultra Black to the threads of the bolt AND installed a flat washer in place of the lock washer which I also coated with Ultra Black.

I think oil was leaking out through the split in the lock washer.

It has been over a year of driving 2 to 3 times a week with no more leaks...

With the timing gear throwing all of that oil around under that cover it makes sense that it would leak from that bolt if it was not sealed.

I will try the flat washer, thanks.

The two side timing covers should not have the lock washer. Remove and put a light spot of rtv under the head if you feel necessary.
