Intake Port?

Removed the Exhaust and intake manifold to replace gaskets, noticed about two drops of oil in one port of the Intake, is that a problem to be concerned with? Removed the above plugs, no oil was seen, plugs were clean. Never was there any smoke out the muffler.

Could be from a fuel tank additive, but regardless just go back together

How can an additive get there? sounds impossible.

Your fuel / plus any additives travels from the gas tank to the cylinders via the intake manifold

Yes, I know what you mean, just wondering how it separates from the gas and doesn't burn along with the gas, or how it just leaves residue. Wonder if some additives are maybe only extra trouble then good.

Fuel tends to evaporate.. Some additives may not so quickly.
The question is are you adding anything to your fuel?

I hope it isn't residue from a previous tank coating. I've seen a couple tank loose the lining and it winds up a black mess in the carb and intake.

I did add Lucas fuel conditioner before.

agreed, the carb does a wonderful job of atomizing the fuel and whatever is in it. It inevitably coats the intake eventually and the last few revolutions as the engine is shut off each time is still sucking fuel into the engine. Vapor floats around, fuel evaporates and whatever else is in the fuel just eventually falls/runs down the intake pieces to the lowest point and collects.

In theory the MMO or whatever you put in the fuel would eventually work its way to the throttle shaft bushings and lube them. Gas is great at removing oil and various lubes, the MMO is great at creeping and lubing - perfect for the bushings/shaft.

What are the chances of a possible oversized guide from the rebuild? I would say maybe if the parts are from China.

It would burn oil and smoke out the tailpipe

Do worn out valve guides in a flathead leak oil into the cylinder? I have seen oil leak up hill from a main bolt.

Intake valves that suck oil will have a heavy buildup under the head. When I did head work I saw some that almost blocked off the flow.
