Default Steering box sector shaft issue

Hi guys!
I'm hoping to get some advice regarding the sector shaft installment on a 1937 Slantback. I bought a rebuild kit on Early Ford Store and things have been somewhat smooth so far. But, after installing the new bushings the sector arm won't fit. After grinding the arm for hours with some 150 grit paper I've managed to come maybe halfway, but it doesn't feel like the right thing to do and I'm worried I'll manage to make it sloppy and uneaven. Are you supposed to ream the bushings when installing? Anybody been down this road?
Thanx!

Did you call them back? You do not need to ream bushings.

I would have had the bushings honed, not reamed, before sanding the sector shaft.

That would feel a lot better, but can't figure out a good way of honing them when installed. Any ideas?

Haven't called them, they seem to fit fine otherwise and look to be same size as those I removed.
But yeah, they might have had inquiries about this before.

What tool did you use? I can't think of a proper way of getting them perfectly rounded.

Took mine to the machine shop and he honed it on a Sunnen hone that's used for connecting rods.

DId you press it in with a properly sized arbor ?
If you try to drive it in by pounding it´s a fair chance you deform the thin bushing.
Honing it on a rod hone is the way to go for resizing it if needed.

Ford Manual: Press-in-place and ream. (Honing sounds good)

Thanks y'all, sounds like honing the bushings is the way to go. I'll give it a go!

You need to find an automotive machine shop with a Sunnen hone, It will hone
both bushings at the same time.

Some amateur honing with a brake cylinder hone did the trick, thanks again!
