Default Model B U joints

Been reading a number of posts on U joints these days. Should a good U joint go "limp" if held horizontal, should it say erect?

It should flop all around, slide side to side, but have very little play back and forth when twisting in in either direction of rotation --if it stays erect it probably has a problem ---perhaps standing on end it could be balanced and stay there "erect", but the slightest touch should flop it over limp

Move it thru all directions of travel or rotation, it should be smooth and snug with no hesitation. Any problems will give you vibrations. Bob E.

If it stays erect more than 4 hours, call your mechanic.

Thanks all for your inputs. In future I will be a little more selective about who handles the U joint, and I will keep it away from any hot torque tubes I come across!
