Default Model B U joints

Been reading a number of posts on U joints these days. Should a good U joint go "limp" if held horizontal, should it say erect?

In this case, limp might be better if the discussion is about the closed driveline u-joint.

If the U-joint is new or used clean all the grease or rust protectant off and hold one end stationary. Turn the other end Clock wise and CCW looking for any free play. Push and pull the end again looking for free play. If you find any replace or rebuild the joint. A good clean joint will not stand erect it also will not remain horizontal. This is due to it's ability to flex properly.
