1932 Carb question
This choke has always been like this, but it can't be right. There is too much of an angle to fully engage the choke. Is the cable guide that bolts into the manifold the wrong one? It's the only thing I can think of that would fix it.

Re: 1932 Carb question
Something definitely looks wrong. I assume you have a Model B carb but it is hard to tell from the picture. Any chance someone elongated the holes in the manifold to run on a Model A? Any chance someone used the bolts modified to use on a Model A? The cable guide looks right. Have you tried backing off the bolts that hold the carb to the manifold and twisting it counterclockwise? Have you tried grabbing the cable guide with a set of vice grips and bending it? Looking forward to the solution as mine is slightly misaligned.

Re: 1932 Carb question
A slight misalignment should not affect the choke's operation, but you have a bit more than slight. As the clip was not intended to be bent at an angle, I wonder if the problem might be the angle of the face of the boss on the manifold where it is attached.
Neither of mine show that much deformation of the cable as shown below. |

Jim,
What happens if you turn the clip that secures the cable to the exhaust manifold by 180 degrees ? |

Re: 1932 Carb question
I have loosened the carb an rotated as much as possible. Only thing I can think of is the tube on the carb is bent or misaligned, but the needle valve wouldn't screw in if that was the case. I can't imagine someone would have lived with one the off for all those years if it was the manifold boss. It IS a 32 manifold right?

While I agree that the tube is not likely bent, one other possibility is that the passage for the needle was machined at an angle in error. It is a long shot, but imperfect parts are not unheard of. |

Jim ...
Yours is kinda like mine with the offset. Maybe that's just the way they were. I'll take a PIC and post. Back when I was a kid a piece of the jacketing broke off the choke cable and it was shortened to fit again but I don't have a clue what was done, Al |

Re: 1932 Carb question
unfortunately I sold my spare carb when I picked up a Simmons carb, so I don't have another stock one to try on it. I will borrow one and see if that is what happened.

Re: 1932 Carb question
The cable clip looks different than mine. Yours is more offset to the motor side.
