Identifying an Orginal Model A Coil
I have a 6 bolt Model A coil that is supposedly OEM. However, the top is black plastic. The Model A judging standards say the coil top should be reddish brown or maroon. Were any of the OEM coils black plastic tops or is this an after market? Thanks? Jim

Re: Identifying an Orginal Model A Coil
The first thing I look at is the mounting bracket. All original Model A coils have the bracket spot welded to the coil. Also the bracket that fits against the firewall has concave mounting feet. They are concave to keep the coil from rocking or vibrating on the firewall, which would lead to eventual cracking at the mounting holes.
