Default Trans best to use 1939 or not

Hello, guys which is the best Ford floor shift trans to use behind a built 276 flatty for mild street use in my 36. Plus what gears and ratios work best. I want to keep the standard rear end an trans configuration. Should the 39 trans be best for my build then a wanted add will show up soon for such a box. I really enjoy the Barn and appreciate the oppertunity to hear from experanced folks. Thanks for your comments.

Most of the guys posting here in the T section are working on original cars or 4 banger stuff. I am sure there are some owners that might have one, just not the direction of this section. You might try the Early V8 forum or over on; https://www.jalopyjournal.com/
