use Dorman #493-212 grommit in the road draft tube hole, its a bit loose but with some sealer its good to go, and get a pcv valve for a 3.8 liter buick, run line to manifold vaccuum and call it done.

I bought a couple off ebay that are a machined piece of aluminum with the pcv valve glued into it and o-ring on the outside, fits tightly into the road draft tube hole. Includes a tee and length of rubber hose. Don't have the sellers name but might be able to go digging for it.

I bought one from him three years ago - nice item. He is in Canada and at that time his eBay ID was gunn12. Just searched and he does not show up right now.

I bought one of the PCV valve kits on offered on Ebay on 10/8/09. The seller was Ross Gunning who sells under the name of "gunn12". His e-mail address is [email protected]. The price was $28.50 + $6.95 shipping. It's a nice kit - IMHO - and I would buy another if the need arises.

Good luck with your project. Hope this helps.

Hello Ross Gunning here(gunn12). I have just become a member to the Ford barn. I sell PCV valve kits for the 49-53 Ford/Mercury flatheads. I have just put a listing on E-bay for them ( E-bay item #330433810380)
Please feel free to take a look. I do sell direct should you miss the auction. Just a pat on the back here...To date I have sold over two hundred fifty of these with no complaints.
Thank you for your interest, Ross

No offense Dude, but my way is less than 15 bucks.

Grommit is 6 bucks with tax, valve is 3 bucks with tax, hose is a couple bucks.

I came up with a little different PCV setup for my Merc. I am going to run an electric fuel pump, so I used an early fuel pump stand and modified it for a PCV valve under it. This also lets me use a molded hose and hide it in the rear of the engine.

It actually stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation, not polution control valve.

I ran a electric fuel pump on my 36 took the road draft tube off and running a offy intake made a plate out of aluminum polished it and fitted a grommet and buick pvc all for less than 5 bucks. Chris

I took out the oil fill and the road draft tubes to put a Merc manifold on a 59ab... Freeze plugs fit these two holes, upside down, drilled one and put a pcv valve (1/4" pipe) from a 250 c.i. engine in line with a Rochester 2cv Carb... Works well... Karl

That's a neat way to do it. Question; how did you plug the blow by (road draft tube) hole in the front of the intake?

Bob/Ohio,
In addition to Vic's question, where does the air enter, and how does it flow through the engine?

V8 Bob,I still have the stock breather tube in the front of the intake to draw in fresh air. Vic, I left the stock road draft tube on for looks, but I turned out plastic plug and drove it in the lower end of the draft tube, and painted it black.

That's a neat idea, I might try that on our '53 F-100 Panel Truck.

Just another way of doing the same old thing! I just wanted to hide things in the back of the engine, and not have a long hose on top of the engine.
