1927 factory video
This is a neat site with allot of original footage. Tim posted some links to this site in the commercial thread with some great AA films too.
My question is, in the link provided is footage supposedly from 27 and at about the 15 second mark a fella on the right is doing something with what looks like a brush. What is your opinion of what he's doing? Touching up the paint on the frame... applying grease.... what? http://www.dvarchive.com/stock-foota...dassemblylines

Re: 1927 factory video
I love these old clips of the assembly line! There were a LOT of men working on those cars as they came by. Yeah they labeled the clip about a year off, but it is sure fun to watch.
I wonder if anyone ever counted or estimated how many pairs of hands worked on an A from start to it rolling off the line? Last edited by Phil; 04-07-2013 at 08:40 AM. |

Re: 1927 factory video
I don't think he is holding a brush, it looks like he is using a wrench to touch the bolts he was securing in a sort of "I got that one and that one, good."

Re: 1927 factory video
OK Tim, thanks. Phil I agree with you. There is much to be learned and enjoyed by watching films like this from that era. I have a complete collection of 3 Stooges episodes and just watching the 1930's cars going down the street in the background is a pure joy.

Re: 1927 factory video
Like 1931 Flamingo I too noticed that nearly all the men wore hats. I think what people are wearing or the personal items they have is just as interesting.

Re: 1927 factory video
Lebowski, I couldn't agree more. They were brilliant, especially Jerome/Curly. They were also exploited by their producer.... Sad
As a side note, in 34 they had an episode called "Little Pigskins" and Lucille ball guest starred as a blond. What a hot dame!!!!! Here

Re: 1927 factory video
This was not 1927. It appears to have clips from several different times. Some clips appear to be March 28 to the end of 28 - squeeze grip emergency brake handle in front of shift tower. anothr clip shows a pushbutton handle mounted on the side of the tranny. Several clips show that the bumper is closed.
This is very interesting, thanks for posting it. |
