Hershey Thursday 10/8/2015 report
Well, I thought I'd chime in with a report on my first day at the show. The weather was warm and sunny and I also saw allot of Model A stuff. My only previous Hershey show was in 2011. I scored some nice items, the most important for me was an original truck/station wagon mirror. I walked and shopped with my wife most of the day in the Chocolate S field and really enjoyed myself. As of 10:30pm the forecast for tomorrow (Friday) shows a nice day until 2:00 when they call for possible scattered showers with the rain chance up around a 50%. I'll risk it and try to enjoy the day.

I went Wednesday-walked almost everywhere but I had only 2 or 3 specific items so I covered ground pretty quickly. I figure about 13 miles all day. Drove home with my shoes off!

I got here late yesterday. Drove my 1930 sedan and it ran like a champ. I spent a little time in the flea market. Some very nice cars in car corral, including an unrestored 31 tudor, I think.
I have entered my car in the driver participation series tomorrow, just to make sure we have good Model A representation. |

Good luck with the show. I love it and to me it is like stepping back in time if you remember what local shows were like back in the 70s (I imagine a lot of you can recall earlier events, but my frame of reference considers that a great time for antique auto meets) The setting on the old golf course now is near perfect, and a slight nip in the air, a few leaves on the ground only make it better. A couple pics from a couple years ago to get those who are attending psyched up for the show -

I covered Chocolate N (good vender and parts) and both of the Red fields today. However towards the afternoon the show started announcing that the thunderstorms were approaching and that all venders should take heed to safe their tables etc. So most started packing up and moving out so there were less to see. My plan is to do Green and Orange fields tomorrow Saturday and catch some of the show cars. Hopefully the swap meet is still worth the time. It should be good weather all day.

Mike, that is a Mercer (inspiration for my T speedster). Hershey really draws some great early stuff every year. Love my A, but the two most exciting phrases in the hobby, to me, have always been "Stutz Bearcat" & "Mercer Race about", ya just don't see them at your local burger cruise in...
Weather at Hershey today looks like it will clear, hopefully a great show. Vendors usually scarce by Saturday but green and orange fields close enough to the show to keep some of those guys around.
