Default Help getting MC off

Hi all,

I have one bolt left to get the MC off and of course the caged nut has broken off. I have tried vice grips but once I turn it, it pops off. Any other ideas? I did soak it it in kroil.

What are you trying to get it off of?

ZEP Twister is my favorite penetrating oil.

That usually means that the bolt is "welded " to the nut via heavy rust. If you can heat it up you may be able to get the bolt to turn. Or grind down the bolt head.

Paul, Like many other things on this car, the bolt head will probably be cut off. Then a replacement bolt used.

You are describing the caged nut on the pedal support bracket?

Yes. I think the cage is broken so the whole nut turns.

Try and try again with the vice grips. I hope you will get it. Just try and turn the bolt a smidge one way and the other. Be patient . JMHO

Got it off finally, had to use my needle nose VG’s. Looked inside and just ordered a a rebuilt one. This one probably just needs a good boiling out or sonic cleaning. Then it can be rebuilt.
