Your favorite "Non-Ford" Part ?
As the title, im wondering whats your favorite non-Ford/Mercury/Lincoln part?
I mean parts that looks, feels and fits almost like the original Henry Ford parts. Im into traditional hotrods thats only using original pre 1950 parts. Only parts that bolts to the original chassis and body without ruining the original car. Here is 3 of my favorite Non-Ford parts, many of you already know what this is: #1 1937-1939 Nash Steering box. Its a Gemmer III box that takes the original early Ford splined pitman arm (1932 Ford in picture), 1939 Ford light switch and the original 1932-1948 column tube fits. I have used one of these in my 1933 Standard roadster build, fits and looks great with the original steering shaft pressed onto the Nash worm gear. Theres some machining and welding required with this mod but well worth it. Neal Jennings "NealinCA" have helped me a lot through this, so big thanks to him! You can hire him to do the job for you if you want. #2 1937-1938 Plymouth front shock mounts. They are like Ford F1 shock mounts but shorter and older which is pretty neat. #3 1939 Nash column drop. Reminds of a Ford column drop, same diameter for the column tube, same light switch. The light for the ignition lock is very neat, i can imagine that it's originally hooked up to the door light switch. Close-up on the iginition lock light. These Nash column drops also shares the very same iginition switch brush, plate and housing as the 32-37 Fords. I think it's cool with parts that is this similar to the original parts. Anyone knows of more parts like this that fits or can be made to fit our 1932-1939 Fords and still have the factory look?? Last edited by Walle; 01-06-2016 at 03:17 PM. |

I have used the 37 Dodge pickup shock mounts. My roadster pickup has what I believe is a Rickenbacker dash

Re: Your favorite "Non-Ford" Part ?
Thanks!
Here's another neat non-Ford part: Its a 1947 Kasier Frazer draglink end. Perfect if you want a adjustable draglink and wanna keep the original looks. Here's my adjustable drag link vs original 1933-34 Ford. The internals are replaced by a 28-34 Ford easy-steer kit. Kaiser Frazer in one end and original 28-34 steering end in the other end. Neal Jennings gave me this tip also, credits to him! Anyone got some more neat parts?? |
