I need to replace the water outlet petcock. What is the correct way to seal the threads when installing the new one. I am going to use the replacement that has the hex head on it to tighten.

I used pipe dope or teflon tape position in so you can easily open and close the valve.

I do it the same way as Rocket. I like the thumb turn design myself.
