Re: Vintage battery kill switch?
I leave a cable slightly loose and pull it off battery when not using. I also forget to do so and my vehicles doesn't drain the battery with a amp leak/short.
While it's off put a amp meter between the battery and either disconnected lead. There should be no reading less you have a electronic clock or a short. Never a bad idea to have a disconnect for many reasons though. . Last edited by Tinker; 09-18-2021 at 11:17 PM. |

Re: Vintage battery kill switch?
I have an OPTIMA battery under the passenger seat and mounted a master switch (CH type) mounted on the seat frame behind the stick shifter.

Re: Vintage battery kill switch?
If you want the maximum safety with a total system cut off switch, it should be mounted as close to the battery as possible and in the GROUND strap.
NEVER IN THE HOT LEAD. With other systems the main cable is left hot with the switch off. There are several other manufacturers of heavy duty switches similar to the Cole Hersee one. They can be mounted in the center cross member just ahead of the driver seat with the shaft up through the floor for easy access. Done right the floor mat will cover the handle yet it will still be easy to access. |
