Scam alert
There have been several scams using fake profiles with recent join dates, no posts and no info. Recently I posted a wanted ad and got a response from a “member” who sent me to another email to contact and payment requirements. Beware as it is a total fraud. davestuart3864 is one and frankalex3755 (showed as “Banned”in my email here) is another. The latter has a litany of info about scams on almost every forum, linked to all the same IP address and an email using carpart703@gmail, carpart709@gmail, partcar@... and the like. Don’t fall for the trap.
Just trying to look out for Fordbarners...

Re: Scam alert
Every time I have been contacted for an attempted scam they all use a @gmail address.
Does anyone know why?

Re: Scam alert
Good question. No idea. I read something about gmail accounts being hacked so I am wondering if that email process allows them to see if others have a gmail account as well, so it becomes easily hijacked or something.

I'm sure these scam posts are helpful to some, but it's likely these guys are onto the next email address by the time this scam announcement is posted. I treat all online interactions with a hint of skepticism, and suspicion that I'm dealing with a scammer. Even well known emails can be spoofed. |
