Question Carb Adjusting Needle O.D. Dimension

What is the correct outside diameter for the shaft on P/N A 9525 - Carb Adjusting Needle?
Also what is the correct I.D. for the housing p/n A 9528?

I don't know, but put a drop of oil on the needle and push it past the tension ring, then screw it in.

Thanks Tom,
I tried oil on the shaft and it was still bound tight so I used another needle that I had lying around and it is working but loose.
Wondering what the original dims were that Ford used.

I don't recall ever seeing that dimension documented anywhere. If you are using parts from different sources anything is possible. I have heard more complaints about needles that are too loose than those that were too tight, so at least you have the option of working it looser.

I don't know what the factory specs said but at present there are two sizes of REPRO (needles / GAV housings) manufactured that I have seen.

1. One is about 0.170 shaft diameter.

2. The other is about 0.160.

I find several different sizes of used needles also ...

So when you find a (needle / GAV housing assembly) it is best to check the fit.

Easiest way is to (insert ie slide) the needle "Backwards" that is instead of screwing needle into threaded end of GAV ... insert needle into the end of GAV closest to the "ring" and check the fit to see if it is very loose or too tight to turn...

You must buy both REPRO needle and GAV housing from same supplier.
