Default 40 front seat-50k Rouge tudor like new!!

I really was taken aback by the newness of this seat. It was removed for a mat replacement and the condition is astounding to me. Shiny black paint like yesterday. Noticed the coils were wrapped before being hog-tied into the seat frame. Try to get a modern upholster to do this job today? How did this tudor survive? History is lost. Photos Newc

That OEM seat find is amazing. That's the way we did my 40 front seat in 1988 after my wife made brand new burlap coil bags. Wish I had taken a photo of the newly bagged bottom".

That seat is a recover! You may not want to hear that but the original seat covers were hemmed where they tack to the base. Very pretty. Good Luck: Fred A

P.S. Hemmed is not exactly right, but bound with tape around the bottom edge where it is tacked. Probably part of mass production.

Took another critical look and shows that the trimmer pocketed the springs in rows of ten with the correct burlap. I can't tell if the listings that control the shape are also done as original. If not done well, the stability of the bottom cushion can be poor. I've seen high end show cars done that get rave reviews where the metal inner structure soon pokes through. This happened to the Tom Medley burn repair that was shown at the LA Roadster Show. Old Tom was there peddling his art while the greats of Hot Rod History paid their respects. Still appears to be a first class job. Good Luck: Fred A

I recently bought split back coupe seat for my 40 and when the upholsterer took the seat apart to recover it was the same way, all the springs wrapped, shiny black frame and hardware. He said best 40 seat he'd seen in a long time.
