I just installed my drivers door glass and it wasn't terrible. I was installing new felts and rubber too so that made it a little easier to get the glass in.

I was working on the passenger side with an after market regulator and ended up cracking the glass. I got my local glass shop to cut new glass and install it for me with the new felts etc. That was much easier and also more expensive.

I will say that I could not get the glass into the door with the channel attached. Maybe I was doing it wrong, but on the one I installed, I removed the channel and attached it to the regulator and rolled it down then inserted the glass and seated it in the channel. Then I worked on getting the felts in place by sliding them down the glass by rolling it up and down.

Patience and someone helping will work. Just replaced the regulator in my 33 and was a huge hassle until my wife came and held the glass while I positioned the regulator. Glass assembly will come out easily. Vintique regulator fits and works well. Make sure you lube the regulator and good luck.

Ended up cracking the glass? Was it plate glass? Should have been 'safety glass'. Am I correct? Thank you.

The glass I cracked was the original safety glass with the Ford bug.

To remove the glass you wined up the glass then remove the screw in the channel through the view hole at the top ,tape over the top of the door to hold the glass,or use some one bring the arms together at top ( then they slide out of the channel ) wind the arms down ,some times theirs a screw on the cog ,slide the glass down while tilting/rolling it forward .Slide the glass up and out rear first ,refitting is the reverse of that ,Placement of the channel on the glass is critical were the rivet stud picks up the cam for the smoker fetcher ,there should be a s shaped seal in the channel that seals drafts inside the door just under the garnish , Glass size is critical
